Winners of the Gift Cards

Hello!

There were only two entrants into the $50 Auto Zone Gift Card contest.  So Richard Kichline will receive the $50 Gift Card and Annetta Clingan will receive a $25 Gift Card to be sent out on Friday.  Congratulations Winners!

I was a bit disappointed that others did not participate in the drawing.  I thought that there were more people out there that worked on their cars.  I also thought that having a gift card would save them a bit of money on the parts.  Oh well ...  There will be more contests in the future! Be sure to check back in the future!

The Stafford Auto Swap Meet in going to be at the Stafford Springs Motor Speedway on April 11th!  I will be there with copies of the Car Care for Beginners and some Repair Manuals.  I will not be getting a million dollars for these things, but it is for the benefit of promoting The Car Care Basics.  I will be on the inside of the track, vending,  with Kevin, a aquaintaince from Mustang's Unlimited. I hope to see you there!

As for looking for parts for the Olds 98, I need to make a correction.  I had help with that.  Thanks Scott for helping me with the information!  It is greatly appreciated.

I was recently helping Ron, who picked up a 1971 Lincoln Mark III!  This car is so nice!  It will be nicer when it's in better running condition.  Scott, is also helping with the information related to this car.  It has a 460 cubic inch motor in it. It's very quiet. Someone took off the original Rochester carburetor and put on a 600 cfm Motorcraft.  No wonder the car is starving for air! The carburetor needs to be at least a 750cfm or 800cfm.  It was switched over from points to an electronic ignition system.  I will have to get a picture when he brings it back to the parts store.

I have moved into another parts store.  I was in a store in Vernon, CT, but now I'm in Manchester, CT.  I like it better because I have many more people I can help out!  I enjoy being resourceful!

I will chat later as I must get ready for work - to help more people with their cars.  Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

Good Deeds

Hello!

Well, I did my good deed for this week. I helped a customer find some parts for her father's 1979 Oldsmobile 98 Regency.  (The car is in Turkey.)  The car has an original 350 cid (5.7L) engine in it. I guess he is restoring the car.

I had to come home and go online to find out what kind of a carburetor it had on it, in order to be able to find another one to replace the one that's on there. It turns out that the original was a Rochester 4 BBL (4-barrel). Then there was door mirrors to find and I have still have to find the hood ornament for it. That may have to wait until the auto swap meet in April ... unless I get lucky.

So the search is on ...  I hope I can find one for her to give to her father. This is somewhat of a prized possession I gather.  That's ok ... I believe everyone should have a prized possession.

I will talk to you soon!  Have a good day/night!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

I have a physical repair manual ...

Hello!

I hope you had a nice weekend?  I did!  My anniversary was yesterday!  We had quite a nice day.

I picked up a repair manual that I know a lot of people with these cars have been seeking.  I am going to be putting it the site.  It will be on a regular book page. This one is "Haynes DATSUN 200SX 1980-1983 All Models 2.0 & 2.2 liter NAPS-Z engine".  As I get requests for certain repair manuals, I will be posting the information here and then placing the book on the Repair Manual Page (to be created today).

The Stafford Springs Auto Swap Meet is April 11th, 2010.  It is at the racetrack in Stafford Springs, CT. I will be there with the "Car Care for Beginners" guides.  If I have any repair manuals when I go, I will also bring them.  I will be sharing a spot with Kevin, who is a salesperson from Mustangs Unlimited in Manchester, CT. (He has vehicles for sale as well).

I am going to be setting up a sign up list for those interested in updates, events, new repair manuals for sale, vehicles for sale, new additions to the site and I will also be creating a newsletter, so that you may advertise your own stuff (parts, add-ons, accessories, hoods, scoops, engines ... ect.)  I am hoping to accomplish that today as well.  No promises.

Let me know if you are searching for a particular part, service, repair manual, vehicle, ect. by emailing me: TheCarCareBasics@gmail.com .

  Have a good day!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

Adding new vendors

Hello!

I hope this day greets you well?  I have a bit of a cold, but I am not allowing that to stop me. It's my daughter's 12th birthday today.

I will be adding some new vendors to the car site today. There are vendors there to get specific tools from for that special job - and you can never seem to find the tool to do it - these places have those tools.

I also have some product vendors, and some more make and model specific auto parts sites going up as well. I am doing what I can to provide you all the places you need to find what you are looking for. If you don't see something you need, please ask.  Send me an email: TheCarCareBasics@gmail.com and tell me what you are looking for.

I have to try and get that "fluid guide" into the PDF form today. It took me 5 hours to create it, but I can't share it until I have it in PDF. Just makes life a little easier.

So ... I will write back later on.  I am going to go in and place those vendors on the site.

  Talk to you soon!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

Updates ...

Hello!

I am catching up with placing new parts ads, and listings for things on the car site. I hope that you will take the time to view them.

I noticed while reading Hemmings Motor News online, that we have a flea market this Sunday, February 7th in Enfield, CT where I live. Must be something new ... I have never heard of one here before. Oh well ... something new to check out!

I am trying to find new resources, books, and things to place on the car site. If you have a car-related link - please let me know. I would like to look it over.

Today, I think I will design a "how to" on fluids, what you should know, and where they go. They will be very detailed.  I will be using my car for that.  My car "Magic", named by my daughter Samantha,  is my 1995 Ford Taurus wagon. She is the best car I have ever owned!  (I will add the picture here later.)

I have my "Car Care for Beginners" Guide for sale for $10 USD. You may visit the e-book page for reviews. Then you can purchase the guide there.  I use Paypal, so even if you don't have a paypal account, you can still use credit cards, debit card (with a VISA or MC logo), or by e-check.

I will be here working most of the day on the "how to" and also taking pictures to put into it.  Let me know if I can help you with anything.  You can email me with any questions.

  Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

I have some new things on the site

Hello!

I hope you are having a good day?  I was more excited about getting home from work to see if I had been approved to put some vendor products and services in place.

I was approved by some of the vendors to place their products on the site.  I am looking for a good tool site to put here also. I want to make this a full-service website. There's just too many giants who forget about the 'little guy'.

I will soon have a page for Shows and Events.  That will be for Car Shows and Swap Meets or anything related to that.  So ... if you know of a show and have the details, email me and I can post them for others to see.

That's it for now. I hope you have a wonderful evening!

  Sincerely,

Sylvia

New Day ...

Hello!

It's been quite the week!  I am part of DirectMatches now and others are getting to see this link too!  More people to assist with their cars, trucks, vans, and suvs.

Things are not going so well at work right now ... So, I'm going to create my own store and information center right here.  At least here, no one can restrict my customer service skills to find people the parts, tools, and accessories for their cars.

I am doing this is so that you may find the parts you need instead of running from store-to-store to do it.  Yes, this includes high-end cars as well ... such as Saab, BMW, and Mercedes. I am also looking for links to specialized tool sites as well.  I am also looking into aftermarket parts and accessories, and high-performance parts.

In April every year, we have a Swap Meet that happens at the Stafford Motor Speedway. I am going to be there with printed versions of the "The Car Care for Beginners". I will be signing them and promoting The Car Care Basics site. I will also be looking for vendors who wish to link here. I will let you know the date of the meet when I get the details.

This is where I belong.  I love to help my customers with their vehicle needs.  I have no problem in sending someone to a store, link, or place where they can get what they are looking for now. Some parts have to be special ordered depending on what they are ... but for the most part - if it breaks, and the vehicle is not running, you still have to fix it.

In a few weeks, I will be purchasing inexpensive Chilton and Haynes Manuals. I will be creating a page for obtaining such books. If you are looking for a specific one, please email me at TheCarCareBasics@gmail.com
and tell me which one you are looking for.  I can't find it for you if you don't tell me. (I got mine for $4 USD at this place.)

Let me know what type of part, accessory, gift set, or specialized book or tool you are looking for.  I will do my best to find it and hopefully be able to supply you with a link to the place.  Not every store is online yet.

Thanks for being here!  It's my pleasure to help you find what you need!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

Creating Newsletter

Hello!

I think I will create a newsletter.  I know this helps with information and it also helps me to get you information that is important for you to know ... such as Recalls.

I am also looking for automotive links to place here on the site. If you have a car, truck, van or suv related site or affiliate link, and you would like to place a link here, please email me.  I need to look it over before I can approve it.

There is a new product on the new product page.  For those looking for touch-up paint that you can't find in the auto parts store, please visit that page by clicking on the Product link.

I'm going to be finding more sites and links so that you can find the things that you need.  I get a lot of questions at work, I write this stuff down, so that I can place it on the site in case you can't find it in a store somewhere.

Now, having said that ... I have to get ready to go to work.  Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

E-book page, contact page

Hello!

Today, I put together the e-book page and guide page and also the contact page.I will be adding a photo for the Guide. I haven't gotten that far yet!

I will also be putting an automated series together for how-to do certain things on your car, truck, van or suv.  I am also working on an e-book series on how-tos.  All of it is on the drawing board at the moment.

I will be looking for more car-related information to link here. If you have a vehicle-related site, and you would like to swap links, please email me, so that we can get it done and benefit from it.

My Do It Yourself Repair site has to be renewed, so it will be some time before I have it up and running again. Just bear with me on this.

I hope you have a great day!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Guillemette

Finally!

Hello!

This is the site I dreamed of building for months! I finally got off my butt and just did it. Nothing is hard once you decide to do something.

The e-book came out great! It's called "Car Care for Beginners". I have testimonials from those who have read it. People really like it and someone ALWAYS learns something.

Now my ambitious, creative mind and I are going to partner together and create some "How To" series to help people learn to do the little important things.

Learning what fluids go into the vehicle and where they go. How to know your tire size and how to put the correct air in. How to check your air filter. How to change your wiper blades. The list goes on and on and on ...

I feel that these are very important things to know.  No one should just "get in and drive". You should know how to take care of the vehicle ... especially if it is not yours!

Please feel free to send me any suggestions, comments, content for this website. I would be more than happy to do so!  Please email me HERE.  I would love to hear from you!

Have a good day!

Sylvia
